Dental pulp is the soft area in the center of a tooth that contains the blood vessels, connective tissues, and nerve of the tooth. If the pulp becomes damaged or infected, Dr. Lynh Pham may recommend a root canal in Mesquite, Texas. During root canal treatment, our dentist will remove the infected pulp to save the tooth.

Before performing a root canal treatment, our dentist will take an X-ray so she can observe the shape of the root canal and check for signs of infection in the surrounding bone. The tooth and the surrounding area will then be numbed with a local anesthetic. Dr. Lynh Pham will make an access hole in the tooth through which the pulp, bacteria, decayed nerve, and debris are removed with root canal files. After the interior of the tooth has been completely cleaned, the root canal is filled and sealed. A filling is placed to fill the access hole. At this point, a crown is prepared and placed on the treated tooth. The dental crown will protect and support the tooth, as well as restore its function.
